got the flu
Has any one else experienced a good ole cold or the flu since being post op? .
I was at work today and started getting a scratchy thorat and sneezing, runny nose and eyes , I guess since I'm getting skinny my imune system is on the blink. and another thing that I'm experiencing, I have no appitite, I am 7 weeks post op, the first 3 weeks I really had to fight the hunger pains but now it seems I can't find anything I want or desire and I think I could go all day without eating. Is ther any one else out there with this same thing.? Sherry Hefley
I haven't been sick but am experiencing the same lack of appetite. Nothing seems appetizing anymore. I could go all day without eating but know I have to have protein or my muscles will waste away. So I grab some protein whether I'm tired of it or not and just eat it. Maybe its partially psychological? Before, eating was almost recreational for me. I ate because it tasted good and comforted me. Now I have to eat to live and it's not as much fun! LOL! On the other hand, since I've had to be so selective about what I eat, I enjoy the taste of certain foods so much more. Some foods I used to like are not as tasty when you have to chew them 100 times! I'm finding at 6 weeks out that I am concentrating more on getting fluids in. Seems like I am able to drink more at a time than at first. So when I'm doing that, it interferes with eating! What a problem! Ha Ha!It's all challenging and a part of getting used to a new lifestyle! I always wanted to eat "like a normal person" and it's definitely a new experience!!!
Sherry-
Just getting over the first cold of the season myself. Unfortuantly, whever said feed a cold and starve a fever must've had me in mind! As long as I stayed away from milk products, my stomach wasn't too upset with me. At the 3 month point, I can eat almost anything- with the possible exception of steak, pork chops, and dry chicken. Sometimes I forget about my smaller stomach, and pile alittle more on my plate than I should. Fortunatly, a full pouch brings reality right back into focus! Hope you're feeling better!
