daily meal logs
I am 6 wks out. I eat 4x a day. Work 2nd shift 3-11:30. I space my meals about 4 hours apart. Right away when I get up(because there has been no fluid in my stomach) I have breakfast. (around 8:30) It might be a couple pieces of cheese, a scrambled egg, or a couple oz tuna salad. Then I mix up my protein drink for the day (2 scoops vanilla protein powder, 1/3 c dry milk, 12 oz skim milk, and one ripe banana) Then we usually go to the gym for an hour. No drinking. When we get back I drink the first 1/3 of my protein drink. Wait 1/2 hour and have lunch which might be meat and a little vegetables. Wait 1/2 hour and start drinking(water, Crystal Lite, boullion). I divide my protein drink into 3 parts and count it toward fluids. (Have one part in morning, one in pm, and take the other 3 oz to work with me.) I leave for work at 2:30. I usually take some string cheese, 6 oz V8 juice, Crystal lite, boullion, 2 oz of applesauce, maybe cottage cheese, egg or tuna salad. I eat my supper about 5:30. I have to take supper at my desk so I only bring very easy finger foods. Wait 1/2 hour and drink drink drink. I stop drinking about 10:30 so that by the time I get home enough time has elapsed so I can eat something before I go to bed. It might be leftovers or some other form of protein. As you can see I eat very little carbohydrates at this point and my diet does not have a lot of variety. But I am getting my protein in and losing.

Well, I dont tolerate the protein shakes..so here's what i do. I start the morning with a glass of crystal light..im always thirsty when i first get up...and never hungry. I take my vitamins with that.. and sip on it on the way to work. I take with me... 4 slices of fat free cheese...20 grams of protein and no fat... low calories.. and i can eat it sitting at my desk. THEN i usually have a string cheese stick ( 8 grms protein) at 10am for a snack. Lunch usually consists of tuna or ham salad..with shredded cheese...or possibly cottage cheese 1/2 cup measured out for anything. (approx. 14 grms protein) String cheese for a snack again at 3pm, then supper usually consists of 3 oz. of meat (18 grms protein) and then veggies to the full feeling...usually about 1/2 to 3/4 of food chewed total. I have my little "indulgence" of a sugar free fudgesicle before i go to bed... approx. 68 grams of protein a day...without shakes. I have lost 50 lbs in 10 weeks with the schedule. Some days I indulge myself with a strickly sinful meal.. like sweetcorn on the cob..mmm... but i never make a habit of it..and never more than once a week.

I am post-op 1 week. This is how my log looks so far. I am only eating 3 meals per day, no snacks per say except I get my milk in between breakfast and lunch; and lunch and dinner, water throughout the day, 1 can of decaf diet cola per day, it does not have the same taste for me as before.
Example of yesterdays plan. 1/4 c yogurt light w/o fruit, lemon, lime, vanilla
1/4 c applesauce
Lunch: 1/4 c tuna and hard boiled egg pureed with fat free mayo and 1 tsp of pickle juice, 1/4 c pureed peaches
Dinner: 1/4 c pureed regular green beans, 1/4 c pureed potato soup.
I guess this is a better example for new losers not necessarily ones that have already been able to incorporate regular food in their diet.
Anyway, I hope this helps some for new people. paula
Beverly, I am almost 5 months post op and here is what a typical day of meals is like for me. Breakfast - 1/2 cup milk with protein powder (25g protien). Mid monring snack - one string cheese piece (8g protein). Lunch 1 container of Light-n-Fit yogurt w/ 3T non fat dry milk (10g protein). Mid afternoon snack (1/2 c nuts (around 10g Protein depending on the type of nuts). Dinner meat and vegetable 20g+ protein) and mid evening snack 1/2c fruit. In between I drink water.
I really try to eat 6 times a day. Usually during hte work week I succeed. One week-end I usually misout on a snack or two just becuase I am running around. I have lost around 60-70 pounds so far so this works for me.
