Sheila, My doctor didn't require me to take anything to clean my system out. Instead he required me to follow his pre-surgical plan. That meant I could eat anything I wanted until noon the day before my surgery. Then from noon to midnight I was on clear liquids. From midnight on nothing. Now each doctor is different so each will have their own pre-surgical preparation. Less than two day until you cross over to a new you! Congrats and best wishes!

Did nothing to clean myself out except nothing after midnight. I was able to take my RX pills the day after surgery. I think they gave them to me intravenously the day before. Will be waiting to hear how you do! Michelle -5wks/-37#

Sheila, My physician did nothing to "clean me out" except nothing after midnight the night before. It's amazing how different doctors handle things differently. He told me that by sugery time the following day, there would be nothing in the part of the stomach and intestines that he was working on, if i didn't eat anything after midnight. PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS - I had to go off of a couple of my meds. Bextra for menstral cramps, is hard on the new stomach so i couldn't take it for a couple months. AllegraD for allergies, i just couldn't take, becuase they were too large, and wouldn't fit through my stoma, and also couldn't crush them because they are time released. I tried other allergy meds, one didn't work, and the other still was slightly big..it stuck in my stoma..wouldn't come up...wouldn't go down...owwwWWW! I had to wait an hour or so for it to dissolve..it sucked! My physician says that if they are squishy (like a capsule) then there will not be a problem with them..but capLETs and Tablets are no no's. All physicians are different..but i went through the pain to prove my physician was right! Some medications that are prescribed..such as antibiotics, are larger and will have to be crushed...they taste nasty, but if they are not available in liquids WITHOUT SUGAR IN THEM, then nasty taste is better than dumping...in my opinion. Hope all my rambling has helped. Im not 9 weeks post op and down 48 lbs. whoOOPEEEE! ~~~Dawn Phillips Fort Dodge, Iowa
