I was reading the information from the Grinnell surgeons and one statement caught my eye. it was to the effect that if you had Type II diabetes the surgery would not be as successfull--weight loss wise? anyone know anything about this? Is this just a disclaimer that hopefully isn't true for everyone?

Hi Beverly, I am diabetic and both my Endocrine Doctor and Surgeon have told me the opposite. I am Type II insulin dependent and I've been told that I will see a farily quick change in my diabetes and that my having diabetes will not make my weight loss any slower. I imagine each person is different and because one person may have diabetes and a slower weight loss doesn't mean every person with diabetes will be the same. Best of Luck with your journey. Patti

Beverly, My mother had type II diabetes and after the surgery (several months out) her blood sugars ran around 90 or so. ~Wishing you lots of luck~

Beverly, I am type 2 as well. I had my surgery on August 5th and my sugars have been running in the 70-90 range. I no longer have to take any meds. ~~~Amy LAP RNY 08-05-03 / -30 pounds
