I got approved. I called to check on the status of my approval at BC/BS and they said I would be receiving the letter in a few days! Yea!!!! I went to the doc July 31st..that's 3 weeks! Not bad. Jason was approved in 2 but they said they've been very busy there. I cannot get a date until the Drs office receives their approval letter, so I'll prob. know sometime next week! I want to have it done the 1st week of Oct. That is when it works out best in our performance schedule at school. Jason is doing great...he's down 30 lbs in 2 weeks and has lost 2.5 inches off his waist! He's having trouble getting the protein down, so we ordered some more samples off vitalady.com. He also has a hard time getting the water in. He's still suppose to be on soft foods for another 2 weeks, but he's ready today! No throwing up or dumping so far. He's taking his vitamins like a good boy, and he is back to normal...except he can't lift his children . It's been getting easier for me, because he can help out more with the housework and he's going back to work Monday.

Best wishes to you! Tell Jason that the water WILL get easier! I had trouble getting the 64 ounces down at first, too. It's much easier now. Keep your chin up- things will improve as time goes by!

Yea Deb! I am so excited for you (although jealous as all get out!) I am still waiting for approval. If I get approved soon we might be in the hospital at the same time! If not, I will still be sure to visit you. Way to go Jason! That is so awesome that you are doing so well. Good luck on the return to work! Sheila

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I hope Jason is doing well too. It is always best to follow the diet plan your dr or nutritionist sets for you, but I went home eating solids and did fine so if he wants to try some chicken, mashed potatoes or malt-o-meal, let him know that it worked OK for me only 4 days post op. The hardest thing for me was going from GULPING water to sipping it- it was a hard transition. Just make sure he has a water bottle by him at all times. That helped for me. Also, good luck on getting the date you want. make sure you ask any pre or post op questions, I can try to help you as much as I can. And let me know next time you are in the QC, maybe we can get together for a lunch date. I would love to meet you and Jason. It IS you guys that have relatives in the Quad Cities, right? (hopefully I am not TOO confused this late at night!!) Take care!! ~Julie
