Bad News***White Blood count high

The doctor called and my white blood count is 12. They said it should be 5 or less. So I am off to the doctors for a chest X-Ray and to be placed on meds. If the white bllod count is better by Friday next week I won't be able to have surgery on Sept 2. Pray for me.

Hang in there Lisa. I know it must be frustrating waiting for the surgery date only to have glitch happen. In the scheme of things, it is best to have this checked out so that the stress of surgery doesn't activate some kind of infection. If the surgery get's postponed, you will be ok. Just keep talking to us and getting the frustration out.

Lisa: I am confused. The normal white count is between 4.8 and 10.8. Yes yours is a bit high, but to say that it has to be below 5 is actually kinda scary. The lower your white blood count the more susceptible you are to dieases. Check with your doc again. There are several small things that can raise your count. It may be something so simple as a yeast infection or even a small cut that got a little infection in it. Take your antibiotics and have them retest you in a few days. My surgery was postponed a week cuz of a blip in my EKG that needed further testing. That was the longest week of my life cuz I was so geared up for surgery. But I got through it and am on my way! You will be too. Good luck!
