Hey Lisa- I've used that tip and it really works great. A very inexpensive substitute for the protein powder. The thing I haven't liked about the protein powder is that it is usually flavored and sweet. So everything you mix it in tastes like vanilla or chocolate. A flavorless protein mix would be ideal- I found one at GNC- it was a soy based powder with 0 carbs and 0 sugars for only 13.99 but I'm afraid to try it thinking it might give an odd taste to foods. I did buy a canister of protein powder at GNC called Amplify which has a good flavor.(I got the vanilla) for 34.99. It must be good cuz even my husband gets into it! I figured I could add extracts to it to get the flavor I want. Another thing I have used is eggs- my favorite so far is whipping one egg into a can of chicken broth and then microwaving small portions. It gives it some substance and doesn't alter the taste. I also read about getting dry egg white powder. That may be the flavorless protein punch I am looking for but I will have to see if I can get it in the grocery store. I wonder about putting a box of sugarfree jello in crystal lite- if the protein in the gelatin would be enough to make a difference? Just an idea. Happy hunting!

I have been told that Yes, Sugar free jello and puddings are great to mix into things. If you try it let me know.

I bought the designer whey from GNC. I make pudding by doing the 2 cups of skim milk (16 grams protien), 2/3 cup powdered milk (another 16 grams), 2 scoops protien powder (40 grams) and SF pudding. The whole container has a total of 72 grams of protien. I do about 1/3 cup pudding 3 times a day for a total of 12 grams per serving. I am not a big milk drinker so this satisfys the need for that darned skim milk snacks my surgeons requires 3 times a day. I tried to add extracts to the protien shake and I couldn't handle it. The flavorings all made me sick. I also add cheese to about anything I can. A typical day for me goes: Breakfast 1 scambled egg with 2 oz FF cheese - 20 grms protien, pudding snack - 12 grams, 1/4 c chicken or turkey salad with 1 oz FF cheese - 9 grams, pudding snack - 12 grams, 1/2 cup soup (purreed still) with 1 oz FF cheese - 10-15 grams depending on soup and a pudding snack - 12 grams. I am totaling about 75-80 grams a day right now. I still can't eat anything of substance yet so I am still eating really soft foods. Once I can start on meat I will cut back on pudding a day.~~~Amy LAP RNY 08-05-03/- 23 pounds

ok, I have a question for all of you, what do you do for the protein if you can't take that soy crap. I got a crap load of samples from Vita-Lady and they are HORRIBLE. I couldn't take any of them without barfin' Is that carnation instant breakfast the same thing or what? How does that taste, does antone know? I will be in deep do-do if I can't figure out a way to get that protein, that's if I ever get the surgery done. But I wanted to try a bunch of stuff before hand and so far YUCKY any suggestions.

I found that the Isopure from GNC is the best. You get 50 grams of protein in 12 oz. of water. I get the dutch chocolate. that is the best for me. My second is strawberries and cream and the vanilla tastes pretty sweet to me. If you join the gold card club you can get a discount on it the first seven days of the month at any GNC store. The price per container is 49.99 and it lasts you about 1 month. I hope that this helps. I had tried a bunch of the other stuff before finding this and really LOVE it. Stephanie Des Moines
