Patti Jo
Hi Patti Jo, In answer to your question, I tried telling the dumbass at the surgeons office that medicare does not pre approve, they told me Monday just exactly what I already tried to tell them 4 months ago, so now they are trying to go threw title 19, the green card BUT I went to my pcp yesterday and the girls at the front desk told me that they had a meeting the other day about title 19, medicaid or whatever they try to call it and they were told under no cir****tances will title 19 pay for this anymore and they would have to get some kind a wavier from I assume the patient saying they will not try to grt this surgery done if on medicaid/title19. Now I have been waiting since last dec.1, 2002 and finally got a consultation in June of this year and not heard a fricken' word about anything untill my Drs. office told me this yesterday and let me tell you, I am pissed big time. My pcp is going to talk to the medical review board Friday possibly to see what she can find out so I guess I have no choice but to wait and see. She will not give me a refferal to another Dr. if title19 is going to say no anyway. Well girl, you asked and here you got it. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks for your concern, I totally appreciate it.~~~~~Tina

Hi Tina,
First, if you have a green card you may not need a referral to see another doctor. Call your local DHS and ask them. Before excepting the pcp's office staffs answer that this is no longer covered, ask them to please call the 800# they have to Medicaid for this type of question. There is a process that they need to go through to have your approval request looked at and the docs office can call Medicaid and find this out in a simple phone call. I know a few people on this site have Medicaid and been approved. I would ask them what surgeon they see and contact that office to get some of these questions answered. By the way, where r u located and what surgeons have you checked into?
