I was just wanting to know what your thoughts are on job related concern of mine. OK...Where I work is at the Iowa Amry Ammuniation Plant and I work at what they call the MELT because it is 135 degrees year round. Only by choice because I can be on days for my kids ( 5 and 7) . It is very hot in there and I drink at least 100 oz. of warter a day because the amount that I sweat and because its hot..lol..lol..Do you think that I could still drink as much water after my surgery ? im worried that i will have problems. I can go to a different shift wheres its not as hot but I would be on nights and would only see my kids 1 hour a day and that would just crush me. I forgot to say something to my Dr. when I went in last week or I wouldnt be asking .Please any input would really help. Thanks so much you all are so helpfull....Stacy XOXO

Hi Stacy, I am pre-op so can't speak from experience, just from what I have read so here goes. I would definately let your surgeon know about the work conditions and ask him for advice. I do know that dehydration is a serious problem after the surgery. I know of several who have spent time in the hospital receiving fluids. In their case, they thought they were getting enough fluid & when they started getting sick it was too late for them to do anything about it. When they drank water (or whatever) they just threw it up. They couldn't keep it down long enough to do any good. They had to get it by IV. I would imagine that it woud be very easy to get dehydrated working your job. It's obvious that you keep on top of it now so maybe it wouldn't be a problem but to be on the safe side, ask the doctor. I don't know how you do it. I can't handle the heat at all. I work in a computer room which is climate controlled. It is usually uncomfortably cold but I would take that any day over being too hot. Going outside to pick sweetcorn now & dreading the thought. Dixie
