Too Funny !!
OK...I just had to tell you all this. I went to my First dr. appt on Monday and he said that he would get the paper work in and not to worry that he has never had a conflict with BC/BS. So you know im so excited and have the patience of a two year old so I thought "hay ill call Thursady and see if they (BC/BS) have gotten it yet" So I did and NO they had not gotten it yet and I was sooooooo mad...lol...So I was laying in bed thinking and I realized it had only bed 3 days sence I was there. Just thought I would tell you all and was wondering if anyone else is as unpatient as me...Stacy....XOXO

Hi Stacy,
I completely understand. Really it's a good idea to keep track of your medical info and to keep the insurance comp on there toes by checking up on them. My surgeons office faxed my records to United Health Care 3 times and every time I called to check on it UHC said, "oh, sorry we gave the doc's office the wrong fax number." I spoke with a supervisor at UHC and reminded them of the new Hippa Law and they certainly were not in compliance by having my records faxed to god knows who is a violation was not Hippa ccmpliant. Two days later I called them back and surprisingly they found my records. So being impatient worked for me. lol. I was approved 12 days later. Good luck with you journey and being 'impatient' can be a good thing. hehehe.
You're not being wierd Stacy. If you are attune to all the posts and problems on this website, you are aware that the insurance company can be one of your biggest obstacles. My surgeon told me it might take up to 30 days to hear back from the ins co but I got the approval call only two days later. It frustrated me to hear 30 days but it made the call that much more special. As long as your surgeon is confident you are a good candidate and he has had experience with your ins co, you should'nt have anything to worry about. Still, it is a big load off to get the official word! Hang in there!
Stacy, I was just there in your shoes last week. I also have BC/BS. My insurance provider sent in the information on a Monday and they didn't show it in there system for a few days. But they are real good with given you an answer within a week. Keep calling. No this is very normal to feel this way.
Here we are learning and trying to make the right choice. Which is an emotional roller coaster in its self. Than you finally find that this is something
you really want and we have to wait until someone eles gives the okay.
it drove me crazy.... Keep your head up.. It'll come through. Lisa J
Stacy,
This sounds SOOO much like what happened to me. I am SUCH an impatient person! When i decide to do something..i want it done NOW. My dr. office was supposed to send the ins. paperwork in on a monday...and they didn't get it done until a THURSDAY! (I called them 2-3 times between those 4 days! hehe) Then on FRIDAY i called the ins co (BC/BS alliance select) and they had approved me the SAME DAY! I hope things go as good for you... and just remember..your not alone..we are all here to help you and let you lean on us! ~~~your friend in WLS~~~Dawn Phillips
