Protein Shakes
I started off taking the wal-mart brand of children's chewables... 2 of them a day. I also took 4 wal-mart brand chewable antacids for a calcium supplement. I switched to the wal-mart brand womens multivitamin when I decided that I was going to swallow pills rather than chew them. I still do the chewable antacids though, the calcium pills that you swallow make me feel ill. I tried numerous protein shakes, bars and drinks and hated them all. I have not had one in at least 10 monthes. I told my doctor this and he told me to try and get as much protein as I can out of my food and I have never had a problem with that. I am not recommending you do this, just sharing my personal experience. Amino 2222 mixes with Crystal Light, but it had a bitter taste that I didn't like. There is also beneprotein, which is talked about in another post here. Good luck with everything and take care!! ~Julie
I also take the Childrens Chewables (post op) pre op I was taking Centrum multi vitamins. Pre-op I tried the Designer Whey protein, chocolate, from GNC it's definatley an aquired taste, chalky and if it's really really cold and you drink fast it's not all bad.
Post op I just discovered at WalMart these little Ready to Drink protein drinks, it's called EAS Advant Edge chocolate fudge. They only have 1 gram of sugar and it has 15 grams of protein, I think this is the best so far, it's not chalky at all, it's sorta like the chocolate Yahoo drink ....if you know what that is...just minus the sugar Good luck!
I take Adult Chewable Centrum Daily Vitamin, also extra Calcium, and Skin, Hair & Nails Supplement in a Pink Box from Wal-Mart, this helps with hair loss for me. I LOVE Isopure Vanilla for my shake....it's made by Nature's Best and you can get it online for about $30/3 pound jug....lasts about a month. I also like Choclate Whey Stack....but Isopure is my favorite! If you find a shake that you can't stand try adding a packet of "No Sugar Added" hot chocolate, giving it the taste of choc milk, or add a teaspoon or so of SF instant pudding powder mix, this thickens and gives it the taste of the flavored pudding. I always mix my shake with minimal water, about 4 oz. and then add ice....thicker and ice cold makes it taste better, not to mention it's faster to drink w/minimal water. BUT I LOVE MINE, SO I SOMETIMES HAVE AN EXTRA ONE JUST CAUSE I CRAVE IT! Good luck to you....By the way....if you get stuff at GNC, they are a bit more expensive, but YOU CAN return anything for money back as long as you have the reciept. Finally at goal....just waiting for tummy tuck! 8 1/2 mos....lost 105 pounds. Carol in Washington, Iowa
Dang Deb, I was blowen away by the 105lbs. I lost sight of what I wanted to say to you. I also have tried to taste test the sample protein shakes but no way was I able to keep them down, they are nasty top me to. I'm like Julie, I'll just have to find another way to get the protein, if you all find a wat let me know PLEASE. Good luck on your trek to the protein.
