What a downer today! I got a message from the Dr.'s office that I needed to call right away. I thought, okay, maybe some extra testing that might need to be scheduled.( Hey, I'ver been a really compliant patient. I got my date back 6 weeks ago because Dr. AC way going out of the country.) But, nooooo...not that. Nope~~~~ Now, instead of the 8th of August, I have to wait until the 15th of August for my surgery. Alrighty then... how can I make this disapointment in my head stop??? I had soo many other things scheduled around that date. I'm mad, I'm sad, I'm disappointed!!!! Damn (sorry) but I had everything on pace for that date. (mostly my attidude) I feel like the rug (and a good share of my relaxed nature) have been pulled out from under me. Thanks for listening~~Linda~~

I completley understand! The hospital called me the night before my surgery (July 9th) and told me it would have to be re-scheduled. I was scheduled for July 15th and they kept that date! The disappointment sucks but it will work out. I tried to think of it as, hey..I have a few more days to eat ice cream and pizza. Just try to find something to keep you busy for the extra time. Good luck!

I agree with Kelly, try to keep busy. Try to think of where you will be spending most of your recovery time(chair, bed, sofa, etc.) and sit there for a minute looking around. Because it never fails, when you aren't able to do something easily, if there is anything that isn't just right, it will drive you crazy. Maybe also, I don't know how big of a freezer you have, but check the helpful hints from the post-ops (or just ask, they love to share!) and see about getting ahead on freezing broth ice cubes, and other things you need the first week or two after surgery. I know this doesn't help with the disappointment any, but I try to use the anger energy positively. I really don't mean to sound like a counselor, but I know sometimes I feel at a loss as to where to start. Hope this helps a little, (((HUGS))) to you, it WILL happen. Elizabeth

HUGS Linda, I can understand your feelings, they are completely normal. All I can say is it will go by fast if you keep yourself busy and once you have made it to the other side the time will fly by! You will be so busy recuperating and drinking water and eating that the time really goes by fast. I will keep you in my thoughts hon! ~Julie

Hey Linda- I'm in the same boat! My surgeon would not schedule my date till my pulmonology appt.. That was rescheduled. Then because I had a little blip in my EKG he would not schedule surgery until that was resolved. So I have been thru 2 days of stress testing. (Actually I have been practicing the last 2 months LOL!) When I called the surgeons nurse a couple weeks ago, she said there was an opening on August 5 for surgery yet but she still would not even pencil me in. So here we are less than a week away... I finished the stress test today and the tech said there wasn't anything he could see that would keep me from surgery, but I have to wait for the cardio to read the test "officially", contact my surgeon, then contact me. They said I might not hear till Friday!!!!! Since my boss schedules almost 2 months ahead, she has gone to great lengths to accomodate my leave(especially since 2 others in our dept have had surgery this summer). On top of that, another coworker just found out she needs emergency surgery the day after mine so theres' another hole in the work schedule I will feel guilty about!!! There are so many doing double and triple duty in the midst of these absences! I don't know how I will ever repay them all. Oh, I better add that I'm PMS as of today(can't you tell?), but that's a plus cuz I'll be over it by next Tue!! Sorry!! I didn't mean to turn it into a "my whine is bigger than yours!!!!" LOL!!! Just feelin sorry for myself. We can whine together! I'm sending a little cheese your way to go with it... do you like swiss or cheddar??? Michelle
