can someone tell me what to expect over the next couple of months while I am waiting for my consultation. I actually called this morning and have an appointment for January, 04. I have heard some doctors make you lose weight before surgery--I have heard some people have to practice eating smaller amounts and ground up food etc...

Beverly, It really depends on the surgeon and the type of surgery you are having. I know some doctor's *****quired their patients to lose weight before surgery and others to have their patients do 2-weeks of clear liquids before surgery. It really depends. Who is you doctor? Maybe knowing this, someone here can tell you what to expect.

Beverly- I had heard of some doctors wanting you to lose weight, too. Well, if I could lose weight I wouldn't have had to have the surgery in the first place! I had surgery 2 weeks ago in Grinnell, and I am totally thrilled with the care I received. Yes, I went out of Des Moines for the surgery, because I wanted to get the surgeon with the most experience. I didn't practise eating smaller portions- I had a PARTY for the 2 weeks before surgery. I figure if they are going to decrease the size of you stomach to 2 oz., I may as weel stretch it out for them, so they can get a better grip! Jeri
