Whoops
I clicked the wrong key. anyway, this is my first forum and am just starting to think about surgery. I am trying to figure out where to go for surgery and to who. I am trying to not chicken out--since I remember my hysterectomy 5 years ago and don't want to go through all that again, but I am getting to the place I am having trouble getting around, and I want to see my granddaughters grow up--not to mention my teenaged son.

Hi! Congratulations on making a decision to become a new healthier you! I just recently made that decision myself. I am currently waiting for insurance approval. I wanted to let you know about where I am having my surgery(hopefully). My surgeon is Dr. Coster at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. He has been my surgeon for gastric reflux and tubal ligation. He is absolutely wonderful. There are 2 other surgeons who perform wls as well. I just happen to know Dr. Coster better. The surgeons do around 10 wls a week. So the hospital does know how to care for bariatric patients. If you would like any more info on the surgeons at Grinnell, feel free to email me. Keep us posted on your journey!

Welcome to the group and good luck on your journey! Deciding to have WLS was a hard decision to make and the reason I did have it was because of my children, I wanted to be able to do all the things that "normal" parents do with their kids. I have lost over half my body weight and feel great! I would go through the surgery pain again tomorrow for the results that I acheived. Take care! ~Julie
