Does this seem all right?
Hello all,
I go for my six week check up on the 24 of july. When I first started this venture back in may I was at 240 lbs. The day of my surgery I weighed in at 228 on 6/17/03. Now as of today I am at 198 lbs. So if I go from my surgery date weight it doesnt seem like alot but from my consult weight it is about 40 lbs, I know they said I was a light weight, but should I be loosing faster, and what should I do to increase the weight loss, or should I just be patient and keep doing what I am doing? any replys are appreciated! thanks all, have a great day!
Christina, I am a little over 8 weeks post-op. At my 6-week checkup I had lost 28 pounds. I too am considered a "lightweight". So I think you are fine. Remember it is better to lose slow and steadily than to lose it fast. This way it gives your skin time to adjust as well.
One thing I have started doing to kick up the weight loss is really working out at the gym. I take kickboxing classes 3 times a week and that really jump starts my cardio routine (and I know I am burning a TON of calories.) My doctor told me that most people don't follow through with a strong exercise program. Reinforce those healthy habits now. If you are a member of a fitness club, take advantage of the classes they offer, if you aren't a member, think aobut joining. If your exercise is walking, think about picking up your pace, add a few hills in your route. I hope this helps - Janine
I haven't had surgery yet but consider this: Would you have lost 40 pounds
in that six weeks if you haven't had surgery. Can you explain to us what
a lightweight in the wls world? Also you have just loss 13% of your total
body weight. I think that is pretty good. Everyones body is different
so there is no right or wrong amount to lose. Just remember it is a loss
and not gain..... Keep up the good work... I would say to drink as much
water as you can. Lisa J
