Well, probably my biggest struggle at this point is find things to eat when I am hungry as my family eats their McDonalds hamburgers! *sigh* I have been fighting alot of old food demons the past 2 months. Being hungry... eating 3 bites of something and becoming full and not able to eat any more. That sounds like a dream come true.. but then again.. I found it frustrating. I kept saying to myself.. ( or my husband, rather) " I just want to eat like a normal 5 year old!" I believe now I have come to terms with the portion size.. but I still find it hard when hungry thinking of what to eat. Alot of food that I used to want.. well, they are much less appealing because they just seem to heavy and uncomfortable to even attempt to eat.
Exercise has become my favorite part of life! I just feel better having done it. I go to the Y and walk in the wait deep pool for 30 minutes... my goal is to get it to one hour.
My weight loss has pretty consistently been a pound a day.. but last week and this week it has slowed some. I am hoping the exercise will keep it at a steady 1 lb/day pace. AT least for a bit longer.
Take Care all,
Susan
Congrats Susan, things sound like they are going great for you. Keep working at that exercise, and use it instead of getting mad when you can't eat. I would walk with my sister and vent my frustrations, it was more therapeutic than eating a whole bag of Chip's Ahoy! I used to get upset thinking about the money I wasted because I don't eat all my food, and it is all psychological... once you let go of the fact that you had to clean your plate when you were growing up and you can't waste money so finish your meal... you will feel better about things. I am so proud of you!!! Keep up the good work!!! ~Julie
I haven't had surgery yet so I am sorry I can't give advice on having to eat
eat smaller portions. I have been trying to cut down now. I love to exerice at
Y in Marion Ia as well. I have a verey stressful job and want to go home and eat
But I have been going to the Y instead and I always feel better.
It seems I get the frustrations out and the hormones that are released
I am actually happier. I am sure what your going through isn't easy
just hang in there. I can only hope it will get easier.

Hi Susan, Sounds like your doing really good. I also have not had the surgery as of yet but I to have been trying really hard to cut portions. I find it to be very difficult since I know the rest is there if I really want it. That is a big fear of mine to, I will have to eat very little and growing up we were really poor so getting anything to eat at all was a real luxury so I try to tell myself to go back to that time in my mind ya know and it really seems to help alot. EXCEPT I have a really hard time thinking I may have to throw food away because I can't eat it especially sinse I had little as a child and others may be going hungry and here I am throwing food away. BUT I have a solution I think, I will make only enough for a day or two and hopefully I won't have to throw food away. Ok, got a bit long winded here didn't I, Susan, your doing great, keep going girl.
