Do Dr. Myrie or Dr. AC have any type of info meeting?

I was just wondering if Dr. Myrie or Dr. AC have any type of informational meeting you can go to before an actual consult? If not do I just call and say I need a consult? Is there a terribly long wait to see them usually?

THere is a group info meeting. Tammy Strachen runs it. Just call the doctor at 241-4060. I went to an informational meeting in March or so. I also made an appointment with the doctor at the same time. The earliest they could see me was June 18! I saw Dr. Myrie and really liked him alot.

It's usually a long wait to get into that first consult, I called in February 03 and my first consult wasnt scheduled until April 24th......so Amy is right, you just call them and they set up an initial consult and in between that time you have to see Tammy to have the info meeting.

I think some of my responses have fallen on blind eyes or deaf ears, whatever LOL. Because, as Elizabeth posted, there is a yahoo groups for Central Iowa WLS support, see her post above to access that sight.

Well you got all the numbers and web addresses so all I can add is .... I called to set up an appointment and was told you had to attend the informational meeting before the consult date. I have to say I am very blessed becauce I only had to wait a month for my consult appointment. I called at the perfect time and got a date someone had cancelled. Now that is a blessing!!***DeAnne

Jami, ask anything you want to! I just mentioned the yahoo group because they post all the meetings and stuff. They are mostly patients of Dr. AC and Dr. Myrie. Like I said, I rarely post there, but do read it. And I know what you mean because I am more comfortable here too! I am always finding new stuff to look at and learn. Elizabeth
