Little Confused

How is that some people have surgery and are up walking around right away while others are placed in ICU for days? Anyone have insights to this? Do you think if you get cardio workouts weeks before surgery that would help your recovery?

If I attempted a cardio workout before surgery I'd end up in the ICU anyway! But seriously, that's a really good question. I was just wondering about that myself the other day. I think it probably depends a lot on the surgeon and the nurses. I really don't know though...sorry not much of a help.

LOL Jami. Anyway, depends on co morbidities and so on. Plus type of surgery. Open may require ICU stay vs lap. If you have sleep apnea, that may require ICU vs not. Depends on health and response to recovery and surgeon.
