I was wondering if anyone has experience with any of the surgeons in or around the DesMoines area. I am thinking of going to an informational meeting with Dr. Sundberg and Dr. Unger in Boone. Anyone have any experience with them?I know Dr Sundberg has had the surgery himself which would be kind of nice. But I don't think Dr Unger has a much experience with the surgery. Not sure we'll see. So I'm possibly looking at Dr. Myrie, Dr A.C., Dr. Glas**** Dr. Hardy, or Dr. Sundberg. If anyone has anything to say about any of these docs, please fill me in I'd really appreciate it. Thanks guys!

Hi Jami. I see Dr. AC in Des Moines. I have only heard great things about him. There is a link/ click on to the right of this message board that will give you peoples comments on different Dr.s in the state. Also, there are yahoo groups that are for Iowa WLS people that will give you infl. Check the archives and etc. Go to Yahoo groups home page and search for WLS-CentralIA or OSSG-Iowa Nebraska. I also belong to one group (Gastrc Bypass Info Central) that just passed the 3300 member mark! Anything and everything you could ever want to know is there I think. Just ask. Hope some of this helps. Jami, there is a person here in Boone that has lost 100 lbs after her surgery with Sundberg. I can ask her if I can forward her email on to you. Check out yahoo groups central iowa, many people on there have had AC, Myrie, Hardy and so on. Again, you need to join Yahoo groups and then join the group to view messages. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WLS_CentralIowa/?yguid=133658815

Jami...I just had surgery with Dr Myrie last thursday. I had my most of my staples taken out today. I can not tell you how impressed I am with this surgeon. Not only his personality, but my insicsion is so small. I have seen pics online that scared me to death. I was so worried about healing with a big inscision but I am up and on the computer today...I can't believe it. He is very informative. I like asking him questions before he asks me. I just have nothing but respect for the job he did. Another thing is that he is a level 5 trauma surgeon..which is the highest level. He takes care of the ER stuff. If he can handle that I figured...he could handle a little snip of my belly. Welll...just my opinion...check out everyone!!! Good Luck!!! Damena

Hi Jami! My surgeon is also Dr.Myrie, I'm scheduled for Lap RNY on July 9th. He is such a sweetie, he's quiet but is really straightfoward about the surgery and expectations. He also likes to know what you know about the surgery i.e. the benefits, risks etc. One of my friends had his surgery with Myrie 4 weeks ago he's doing great.
