A big concern of mine is overcoming the free will of eating. I eat when I'm sad, I eat when I'm happy I eat when I'm not hungery. I can do the change in eatting habits but does the thought of food ever leave your head? ****DeAnne

Nope, we didn't have a labotomy. Just a bypass.

I am the same way and I still find myself wishing that I could eat a whole carton of cookies...I felt like my best friend died when I had the bypass and it was HARD... but I found that once I started dropping weight my depression was not as bad and I had more energy, so instead of eating when stressed, I would call my sister and go for a walk. I found other ways to deal with stress, anger, happiness, etc. I think about eating alot, and I still go to restaraunts. One thing I noticed is that since you are basically cut off from so many foods after surgery, when you re-introduce a new food back into your diet, it was a celebration of sorts and that they served sone of those new foods at restarants. So when I go to Applebees instead of riblets, I get the big oriental chicken salad and only the half order and I am satisfied and full. This surgery is a tool, we still have to do the work, and part of the work is repairing all the bad habits we have made for ourselves over our lifetimes. It can be done, don't get discouraged! Hope this helps!! ~Julie
