Hello all!

I am a total newbie!   I have been pre-approved by insurance for either gastric bypass or lap-band pending psych exam.  I have another follow up with the ins company in 2 weeks.   I submitted my info to the hospital today after attending info meeting last night .

How do you help pass the time?  I am so ready for this surgery!

read, research, and start practicing your good behaviors now.  I gave up pop as soon as I had decided I was going to do this and started practicing eating slowly, chewing food well, and not drinking with meals.

That is a good idea.  I am really working on more water (I am not much of a water drinker).  You can tell you are in a midwest message board when we call it "pop" and not "Soda"

Hello.  I did not have the lap band, but I can remember the wait before my RNY and it was full of excitement for the end of the sadness and frustration with my weight!  I see that Dr. Cahalan is your surgeon.  He is my super hero! :)  He didn't even do my surgery, but he did an emergency hernia repair on me after I had my daughter 3 years ago, and because of his gastric bypass surgery skills he knew exactly what was going on and he fixed me up good!  I work in the building next to the new Mercy in West Des Moines and I see him over there every once in a while.  I freak out like a teen seeing Elvis or something.  At any rate, he will take excellent care of you.  He kind of comes off as being a little high and mighty, but I've found that you really want that in a surgeon. Best of luck!!! :)
