Six Months Post Surgery and Looking Pretty Cool!
I haven't posted in quite some time on here but have been reading others' comments. I thought it would be good to post my latest update on here because many of you have been along with me on my journey.
I am officially six months post surgery as of August 11th. On Feb. 11th, 2009, I had RNY surgery at UIHC in Iowa City with Dr. Jamal. I have had the best experience there and would highly............no HIGHLY..........recommend that you check them out if you are even remotely interested in having the surgery with a team of professionals who have nothing but your health and weight loss success as their goal.
I had my yearly physical with my PCP today and I have lost exactly 80 pounds since last year at this time. I am elated beyond belief! My PCP had his nurse call me after I got home and tell me again how proud he was of my efforts to improve my health and lose the weight. He told me several times when I was in his office how proud he was, but when his nurse called me after I got home, that really made me feel terrific. It has been a journey and I am looking forward to continuing on the journey for the rest of my life. It is my goal to lose another 10-15 pounds and I know I will get there by following the directions of my surgical team at UIHC.
As many of you know, I belong to Curves fitness center and went there today as well. It was time to be measured and weighed and I was ready. The last time I was measured there was on April 7th so just two months post surgery. At that time, I had been on my journey for six months (since Oct., 2008) and lost a total of 35 inches at that point. Today when I was measured, I added another 17 inches lost for a grand total of 52 inches. It is just amazing how fast the inches and pounds fell off my body and I could not be more thrilled at the outcome of my surgery.
This isn't a quick fix or an easy thing to do, but with the tool of RNY I am finally winning the battle of excess weight and all the additional problems that accompany it. I hope that anyone considering surgery takes time to research and check out the surgical teams out there. I went to many seminars and talked with many surgical teams before settling on UIHC.
As I have said many times before, if you have questions or want to get in touch with me about my experience (and that's all I can talk about because mine is all I have the knowledge about), please do so.
Hope that you are doing well and learning from this forum.
