Anyone have surgery at mercy in Mason City?

I'm new here and am seriously looking into the Lap Band. I've actually been "looking into" it for a couple years but now I'm truly ready. Does anyone have any experience with the newer bariatric center at Mercy Hospital in Mason City? I just went to the seminar and I think going there would be best for me distance wise for follow up care.

Anyone have any experience with this center and if not where in Iowa did you get banded?

I did not have my surgery through Mercy but I do run their support group along with Dee and Connie (the bariatric coordinator's assistance) :-)

I had mine through Cedar Falls/Waterloo with Dr. Matt Glas****

I choose to go to support group locally since I work for Mercy Hospital and live in northwood, waterloo is a far drive for me. Over 2 hours.

Come to our support group in Mason City, its the 4th monday of the month at the WEST campus off Eisenhower.  Room #1 at 6:30pm.  I am presenting on nutrition, exercise and vitamins this month, June 22nd.  I will pass out a survival guide of everything I am going over and free samples from bariatric advantage including vitamins for band patients.  Hope to see you there!

I had my surgery there on Dec 18 (RNY). I received EXCELLENT care! My surgeon and his staff are the best too! I would highly recommend it.. heck I drove all the way across the state to have my surgery there.

I had my surgery at Mercy in Mason City on 03/31/09.  They were awesome.  I had told them that I have a problem with getting sick coming out of surgery and they did an wonderful job making sure I had the meds and patches that I needed and I never once got sick.  The staff at the Bari clinic is wonderful.
I used Dr. Ver Steeg. 
I recommend both Mercy and Dr. Ver Steeg.

I have not had surgery yet either, but I'm studying up.  I like what I hear about the facilities and doctors in Mason City.  I live near Sioux City. 

Could some one give me an idea of overall cost there in Mason city?

I had insurance and the bills that I saw that had gone thru my insurance I would guess it added up to about $23,000.00.   The is for the hospital stay, surgery, anesthesiologist.  I don't believe that includes the testing before hand to get approval from the insurance company.  Not sure where the underlining of text kick on.  Somewhat annoying.
