I've got a date!!
Tuesday May 26th!!! So that means next Tuesday I start my pre-op diet.... I know memorial weekend will be a struggle for me. Most of my family is going camping and what do you do when you go campting???... EAT, at least my family does. Now I really need to sit down and make a list and get my things I will need. Since I live so far from the Dr I will not be back home until my 1st pre-op visit, so I want to make sure I am prepared wherever I land. I still haven't decided, hotel or my brothers house, although my brothers place would be comfortable something about hanging out in a hotel room for a week sounds relaxing....
Hi Cheryl,
You must be soooooooooooooo excited! I think that's awesome! I am only a few months into the whole "satisfying the insurance company" process, and am probably looking at October at the earliest. Before you know it, May 26th will be here. Good Luck, and I'll be thinking of you! Try to stay strong when it comes to camping....I know how tempting that can all be.

I had to do my liquid diet over Thanksgiving... there never seems to be a good time. YOU CAN DO IT! Just keep your eye on the prize. I can tell you it IS all worth it. I started at 328 at my highest. I lost 48 preop, 18 of that was on the preop liquid diet for two weeks and now down to 135 after having a lower body lift. LIFE IS SO GOOD... and more importantly I am healthy and alive. Dr Matt is AWESOME, you are in great hands. Get ready to hold on my friend.. the ride is an exhilarating one!!!!I
Oh and I stayed in a hotel for a week and made sure they had a recliner (important!) and did great and liked having peace of mind I was close to Dr. G if I needed him. I wouldn't have done it any other way.
Yay for you! exciting!!!!!

Thanks ladies. Carol your time will be here before you know it, and Melissa I am so glad your surgery went well. I looked at your pics and you are a brave person, I am sure it will be worth all that you went through!! Well this is my last night before my 'pre-op diet and I cannot even think of anything that sounds good to eat!!!! I had my husband take my before pics last night, will have to get those loaded and did my measurements as well so I can track my progress....I have stocked up on some of my goodies and of course my 5 year old keeps sneaking in to get my popsicles!!!!
My Surgery date is also Tuesday, May 26th!!! I'm going to Mercy Center for Weight Reduction is Des Moines. I'm also on a liquid diet right now and it is not fun! I'm starving and today I got my results back from the blood work they took in Des Moines and they told me I'm now diabetic. S it's a good thing I am having surgery. And like you we also camp alot and for the next two weekends we have camping plans with both family and then friends. While they all eat the good stuff, I get protein shakes. Good luck and I will keep in touch!!!
