Hoops
I went on Friday for my psych consult. I now have more hoops to jump through. I suffer from serious depression and the believe that I have too much chaos in my life to succeed in my surgery ( After thinking about it I agree) So I have to do some therapy and get a couple of other things in my life settled down before they will clear me.
Has anyone else had to do therapy before being cleared?
How long did they expect that to take and what did you have to do to proove that you were doing what they said you had to do?

I'm sorry you got news you really weren't hoping to hear. Be glad that they won't do surgery if they don't feel you'll be successful right now. I don't know what you have to do in terms of therapy and getting things sqared away in your life. I have been shot down so many times for this surgery due to my insurance not covering it that I can't count them all. I know how disappointed you must feel but just keep your focus on what your goal is (surgery) and work towards that, resolving every issue along the way. Keep posting so we know how things are going for you, Sunny.
Hi Sunny,
Glad you are doing okay. I know you'll have a great appointment tomorrow. Just think, it's the first step in the right direction and you're doing it for you because you're worth it.
Yes, I am gearing up for my surgery. Have a whole list of questions for my pre-op appointment on the 30th. Want to remember to ask things so I make a list of questions as I think of them. The poor team at the clinic probably dreads seeing me come through the doors because I always have a ton of questions.
You'll have to let us know how your apointment goes tomorrow and keep in touch.

I went to my new psych doc today, more meds, but he thinks as long as I take my meds and go to therapy theres no reason I shouldnt have my surgery!! YAY! I am hoping to have all of my ducks in a row and my 40 lbs lost that Dr Jamal wants me to lose by late spring, early summer surgery. I have my fingers crossed!
When I went to my psych consult in Iowa City I saw Holly, she is a sweetheart, but I am going to therapy and to the psych here in Cedar Rapids, with my PCP and the surgeons office in IC I spent too much money in gas going down there already without adding another doc at the U.
Carolia, it is better to get your questions answered beforehand and know the answers before any issues come up after the surgery I know they are used to people with lists of questions.
Jenn, when you go to post there should be a bar at the top of the box you type in that has font options, if not there may be a drop down box choose the HTML Editor #1 option and the font choices will show up, then just choose what you want.
Thanks for the support guys! I appreciate it < group hug lol

So glad to hear that things went well today for you. I think you can lose the weight you need to lose and even if it isn't quite 40 pounds, maybe Dr. J will consider doing the surgery for you anyway. If the therapist thinks you'll be fine for the surgery, then I'd feel good about that too. He wouldn't say something he didn't believe, you know?
Keep posting and working hard toward that surgery. We're all heading that direction and we'll all get there!

Congrats on the great news! Its a step in the right direction. Just do what they tell you and everything will work out fine!
For some dumb reason Im only able to type in the "text" editor...the HTML#1 does absolutely nothing for me, their are no choices and im not able to type either.. Dont know what the deal is??
Congrats!
