I really dont know how they handle that, Angie told me I had to lose 30 of Dr G will make me have Open , thats why I tried to lose some. The 6 month diet is to show that you are dedicated to the lifestyle changes. I am sure their office will let you know

I also had to do the 6 months with a dietician and it felt like forever.  But it really does help.  Everything they teach you you are going to need to know.   I hated every minute of the 6 months i had to wait, but now im really glad i did it .....

good luck to you

I dunna...I would be kindof grateful that is all the longer the diet is now.  When I was going through the process, it needed to be 24 recent AND consecutive months.  :-)

I had to do the 6months,  I did mine with a dietian for Title 19.  Medicare did not cover my doctor.  But It was less than a week after the last appt that I got my approval.
Good Luck!!

I had Title 19 also and went through a 6 month diet with a dietician.  I gained 30 pounds while following the diet strictly, was still approved for surgery.  Title 19 has a million and one hoops to jump through so if you're impatient you might want to take a deep breath and settle back.  Keep in touch with your primary care physician and your surgeons office, get all paper work that needs to be done and start ticking off the sheet.  By the time I was done with the 6 month diet it took 3 more months worth of testing before I had my surgery.  There is a LOT of pre op testing to do.  Go to the weight loss seminars regaurdless of whether you've had the surgery, start working on changing your eating habits and exercising now, it'll make it that much easier in the long run.  Once you get past the insurance approval they set a surgery date FAST.
