IowaCare and Weight loss?

Hi, I am on Iowa Care, and am wondering if anyone else managed to get weight loss care or surgery approved. My doctor is pushing for surgery, but so far I am trapped in red tape. I haven't been able to meet with a surgeon or anything to continue my education regarding whether or not I even want surgery. Anyway, if others have experience with Iowa Care, I'd love to hear from you.l Thanks!

You should be able to contact the Iowa Medicaid Enterprise to see if WLS is covered under IowaCare and what the requirements are.      As for finding out more information about the process - a lot of the bariatric surgeons offer free seminars once a month or so to give you more information to help you decide if you want to continue.  Good Luck.

Hey Areli...I just wanted to say I'm not on IowaCares BUT I do have Medicaid which I am using for my surgery.  I was just approved @ the end of May!  THANKS TO JESUS FOR THAT ONE!  If you have any questions, let me know

Thanks for letting me know! I probably qualify for Medicaid or Medicare, but am still sorting through the paperwork. If Iowa Care turns me down, I'll go that route. Congrats on approval!
