I am having surgery in Mexico in a few days and am super pumped because I have met many, many wonderful people on this site that had it done at this same place. However they live way to far away or in different states than I do.
I am looking for a doctor here in the general region where I can travel to either Iowa or Illinois because I live close enough to go to either Peoria, Chicago, Iowa City, Des Moines.
Does anybody know of a doctor that will perform the fill?? If you have had it done this way or know of anybody please let me know!!
thanks!!
If I were you, I'd make good & sure you find someone before leaving that will do your fills for you. Many doctors don't want to mess with anyone that they didn't personally do the surgery on. Too many problems with liability, with being held accountable for someone else's work, even someone as well respected as your surgeon. They are busy with their own patients & don't need to take on any additional headaches.
I wish you luck. I know that this is the only way some people can get it done. It's too bad it's come to that. Insurance companies really should wise up.

This is something you need to have lined up BEFORE you have the surgery. Most good surgery programs will NOT do the fills on people who they didn't place the band in or who were not referred from another program.
I realize Mexico is the "place to go"--but you don't get the follow up care that is absolutely crucial to be successful.
As for a previous reply about the Iowa City doctors--they don't place and will not care for someone with a band placed, just so you know.
Good luck on finding someone!

The whole fill ordeal is the reason I went with the VSG.
If you are certain you want the band you have a couple choices,
Fillcentersusa.com
or possible the doctors in Grinnell, Iowa.

The doc in Des Moines, Dr Eibes, will not do fills for Mexican patients but the docs at Grinnell were willing to talk to me before I changed my mind to have the VSG
Good Luck
