I have started the trip sown LapBand lane and have started trying different shakes, etc. (I haven't had the surgery yet) However, rather then reinventing the wheel I wanted to check with the group here for advice. I received a "Suppliment Suggestions" sheet from my surgeons office and there are definately alot of choices. From Unjury, Body Fortress, Designer Whey, to all the others. My question is all of you have already been there and done it so, what would you recommend as far as protein shakes, soups, etc and where would you suggest getting them? I bought a 3lb jug of powdered Isopure for $37.00 from GNC. However I'd like some advice from the group.... good choice, is there a better choice and better place??? I'm also having difficulty choosing soups / broths. The biggest thing I'm getting from reading everything is. 1. Stay away from any of the first 3 ingredients containing sugar, High fructose corn syrup. 2. Low Carbs 3. Low sodium I guess I'm saying HELP!!!! Jack

I had the RNY rather than the lap band, so my advice is of limited use.  I personally couldn't abide any of the protein drinks--even the smell was too much for me.  But I think as long as you follow your surgeon's suggestion list, you should be good.  I would suggest you try some of the sample packets you can sometimes get from some of the online sites.  The only protein drink I came close to being able to stand was Jay Robbs that a friend got me at, I think, either Wild Oats or Trader Joes.

Is there a time frame for you to use the drinks?  My surgeon prefers that we eat rather than drink our protein as soon as possible.

Good luck,

Sally
