IA Medicaid question!!!
Hey OH fam...ok so this may be a silly question, but I am just wondering if anyone here recently has had WLS using Iowa Medicaid as your insurance? I found out I have to do a 6 month supervised diet and am wondering if I can get out of it anyway or if its mandatory?? I know sometimes there are little underlying lines people can find that can will let them do something alternative, you just have to look for them?? Any feedback would be helpful! Thanks!

If you have a lot of different weight loss attempts but they are just not documented if I were you I would appeal the denial. You will be able to present your case with ALL the things you have done to an administrative law judge. I am an case worker for Medicaid and I have seen it work.

Hi Kelly,I too have a similar problem.I started the WLS in Jan. 08 i was told I needed a 6 month supervised diet but wasn't exactly sure what it deailed. so my dr, as i have been seeing her for years for weight control and diet pills etc..So in Jan.I had my seminar and started the procedure.Dr.Glas**** asked for certain testing to start, ekg, upper gi etc..Done that.. it started in Feb. my reg. Dr. set this up at my local hospital.....But I did not see her in FEb. in march she was not exactly sure what Dr. Glas**** really needed for insurance. they said 6 month consecutive months..( so I missed Feb. had to start over. Now it will not be till August If i"m lucky..I've been doing as told but have gained #2 since all this started. can that extra month (Feb.) be waived.?)If so Please tell me..I think the stress of starting over is what made me gain..SleepinDove6
