Help me my Iowa brothers and sisters. I have been craving a Maid-Rite ever since I saw a picture of Barak Obama in one of the Maid-Rite joints. How long out before you were able to eat this Iowa delicacey? I'll place my order when you tell me when. BJ (Maid-Riteless in Virginia)

Hi!  I was able to have a Maid-Rite when I moved to soft - not pureed - foods. Of course, I  only ate less than 1/4 cup and no bread...but, heck, it was a Maid-Rite!    Hang in there...it won't be long!  I understand those regional cravings!  Good luck!  Jill G.

I made homemade maidrites the first week I was allowed pureed foods (6 weeks out). Of course I didn't use a bun and I thought it was be pretty easy to digest because the hamburger was cooked really fine,  but  I got really sick.  Now at 8-9 weeks out I'm able to handle cooked ground beef.  I've made some homemade soups with browned ground beef and yesterday I made meatloaf that sat really well.

Maid-Rite does sell the meat without the bun. I think it is a cup of beef for something of that nature.  You should be able to eat this once you are 2 months out or so. Just take small bites and chew really good and you should be good to go. Stephanie
