I'm new to the board. Just had my psych eval today and need two more dr visits so we can submit to insurance, which is Midland's Choice. Has anyone out there had their surgery done by Dr Hardy???

Thanks!

Hi Janell- I'm new here too. Trying to educate myself on all of this. I noticed you have Midlands Choice insurance---so do I. I am just wondering have you inquired about coverage for lapband? My policy(Midlands Choice PPO) states it does not cover weightloss blah blah blah. Been wondering about Dr. Eibes in Des Moines and didn't realize there was a Dr Hardy in Ames that does the procedure. Does he have a website?  I'm near LuVerne, Corwith, Wesley not far from you....kinda. LOL. Good luck and thanks for any info you can share.

Dr Hardy only does the RNY, so I am not sure about lapband. I work for Mercy and have Midland's Choice and they are real sticklers but they will pay for it, eventually. He told me he rarely has trouble with BCBS.....he requires a 6 day hospital stay and he said that Midland's sometimes questions this. Dr Hardy is at the MacFarland Clinic in Ames and doesn't have a website that I'm aware of.....good luck!

Hi, Janell.  I had Dr. Hardy do my surgery 3 1/2 years ago.  He's very good and has very good bedside manners, very professional.  He also was so encouraging on each visit.  He really pushes lots of walking, which is easy to do just starting out or after recovery. Best of luck.  I'll be anxious to hear your surgery date! Barb

I considered Dr. Hardy (lived in Ames) but decided to have a different type surgery (Lap MGB, reversible) than what Dr. Hardy does. (guess I'm not much help for you with your questions) Anyway, all that was back in 2002, so I haven't kept up on WLS things for Ames (moved away from there 2005).  I'm well into the PS stuff now days, lol. Saw the IA City Group of PS for LBL consult (2003). Their quote was $12,000 and my insurance co. said "no", lol. (imagine that) Anyway, I hear today that those same doctors get's $18,000 for the LBL. I'm bragging a bit because I got mine (LBL) for $2,400, yikes. Okay, done with the "me, me, me" storys. Peggy in B.P. IA 43 Procedures-Brazil
