Kelly, I would give your insurance company 1 week and then start checking with them. You can call and they can tell you if you are approved. Otherwise it will be mailed to you and the office. I checked mine about everyother day!! I see Dr. Coster, but have met Dr Sundberg in the hospital. A good friend of mine just had him a couple months ago. Did you know he had it done himself? That's what she said. I am very impatient too, but it is all worth the wait!! Your girl are beautiful!
Oh, I used to work with a Rebecca Klootwyk in CR, she was a PA? She pronounced it Kloat-White? Any relation?
Good luck and keep us posted.

ME! ME!
I had Dr. Sundberg when he was still in Boone. I love him. He says he will follow you for life. Or retirement! His bedside manner is superb. He really knows the answers since he's had it done himself. He's very good when you have doubts about the surgery working, oh, along about 3-4 weeks post-op. He just sat back and said, Yup, 3 weeks, right on schedule (for my doubts). Then he told me to follow the program and it would work.
At 2 weeks, I had a nasty infection around my G-tube. I went to ER and saw his partner, who didn't want to mess with the tube. Put me on antibiotics and had me come in the next morning for a CT scan and more labs. Dr. Sundberg checked on me at least 4 times while I was drinking the contrast and waiting for the scan. Then I had to call each day and tell them how I was. The last day, I was just a little later than usual calling in and they called me.
Then last year I had Dr. Sundberg do a panniculectomy. My PCP had issues with it because I thought I was coming down with a sinus infection. She insisted I had to cancel surgery. She even called Dr. S. I called him, he got right on the phone and asked what was going on. I told him. He asked if I had a fever, NO, have a cough? NO. See you Tuesday. The voice of reason. After surgery, I bled quite a bit and passed out twice. Needed blood. I went home on Thurs with Dr. S telling me if I needed him, he was on call. I needed him. I got very dehydrated and ended up back at the hospital for IV fluid. He came right over to see me and made sure I was okay.
I was number 54 for him. As far as I know, he's never had a death, and only one serious complication (very early on). You are in good hands. While my surgeries didn't go quite as expected, it was just stuff that can happen. He was right on top of all of it. I trust him completely. I would have him do it again in a heartbeat. I've never questioned his knowledge or compentence. I would and did trust him with my life. Plus, he's just a really, really nice guy.
Thank You so much! That makes me feel really good. I really liked him the first time I met him. So relaxed and made me feel really comfortable. I am going to call my insurance company today. Yesterday was one week! I am so afraid of being denied! My BMI is 40. 227 starting weight. I don't have a lot of health issues, just some things starting to pop up.
Thank you for the comment about my girls. They are my life. My oldest graduates in May and I want to be at least 6 weeks out by then. I hope I'm not being unrealistic? I so want to be a pretty mother of the bride some day and not have to shop for a tent!!!
Hello- I had lap RNY by Dr. Sundberg... AWESOME Surgeon... I live in Grinnell also and work at the hospital in ICU.... Once the ball got rolling it was just a matter of time.. it will happen... Have you had your pysch eval? After it comes back from the insurance company they will call you and set everything up with you.

Thanks Stacey! I am going crazy waiting. My insurance company denied me because of a policy exclusion! I cried all day! SO...I am in process of trying to find another way as well as appealing the decision with the Ins. Company. I work for the State of Iowa so I can't really appeal to the company. I will definately let you know WHEN it goes through.
