Yep, finally I am gonna have RNY!! Don't know when yet. Just found out I was approved! Anyone else here have Dr. Jamal in Iowa City? If you have could you tell me about your experience? Thanks!!

Congrats!!! I am see'ing Dr. Jamal on the 23rd for my consult. How long did it take to get approved after your consultation? Let us know when your surgery is scheduled!!

I'll have to see if I can find you that day. I have to go the 23rd for my pre-anesthesia stuff. My surgery is scheduled for Feb. 26. I wanted to go for March but Dr. Jamal is going to take a couple of weeks and go visit his family in Pakistan. My very first consult was October 21 or 22. Then I went back Nov. 17 because they have you diet for 3 weeks to prove that you are serious about changing your lifestyle. They give you a goal to hit but it's a small goal and very realistic. Anyways, I would have had it done sooner but my hubby was not very into the idea and I sent him to do research on WLS and he changed his mind. Now he is excited too! Debi from Dr. Jamal's office told me 4 months of waiting was long enough. Only took about 3 weeks to get approved.
