Considering Surgery

Hello all. I live in Sioux City and am leaning towards having the WL surgery. I am planning on attending the bariatrics meeting at Mercy on Tuesday for more information. I currently weigh 420ish (i think). Is there anyone in the area that has done this?

Welcome Angie. I am actually having RNY in Grinnell on Monday 2/5. I would encourage you to check out the RNY forums also or even the main board. This is a great site for information. Angie what Mercy Hospital are you talking about???

Dear Angie, There aren't many "west coasters" on this site it seems, so hello to another Sioux City-ite. I had my surgery Nov. '05 and have had great success. The only weeks I don't lose weight even still are the weeks when I don't eat and exercise like I should. I've gone through Mercy and while the program has its weaknesses, it is a good program and my surgeon, Rizk, was excellent. I didn't have any complications and started out with a BMI of 66. If you are talking about the support group on Tuesday, maybe I'll see you there. But if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Sally
