Thyroid problems after gastric bypass surgery

I have been looking through the forums, and all I have read are people who have their thyroid problems improve dramatically after RNY gastric bypass surgery. I may be the only one who is having much worse problems afterwards. I have been terribly tired, body aches, very cold, having deep depression, can't lose weight. This week I am going in for another blood test, and the last 2 I have taken one of my thyroid levels has gone way, way up. I have been reading that this may be from either a hypothyroid or hyperthyroid, but I'm not too sure. I might be going to see an endocrinologist after this week. Hopefully I can get this straightened out.

Good luck getting in to see an endo. The first available appointments are now in April! If your THS (thyroid stimulating hormone) is high, then you are hypothyroid. If your T4 is high, you are hyper. Your symptoms sound like hypo. I was hypo before and am now more hypo. I've been on thyroid meds for years, at the same dose, and now they've had to increase it. Go figure. My big issue has been hypoglycemia. I spent 7 hours in the endo's offce fasting after being on a 12 hour fast at home. Looks like I don't have an insulinoma, but may have a problem with the beta cells of the pancreas going a little nutty. I guess that's a side effect of WLS that is now appearing. Lucky me.
