just when I thought

Hey Everyone Just when I thought that everything was going perfectly. I was told Tuesday I could possibly get approval at the end of next week or early the week after. I call Susan at Mercy Capitol and she informs me (in the most pleasant way) that my psych eval was fine but the Counselor wouldnt clear me for surgery until I under went some therapy! Can you believe this crap? I was like what do you mean therapy, how much therapy. She told me he wasnt very clear about that, but she would be in contact with him so she could find out. She cancelled my rn visit that I was suppose to go to this Wenesday!!! So now I'm stuck. I cant do it. My medical hoop jumping days are done with Mercy Capitol until I do the therapy. So being the hot head I am I call the counselor. Lo and behold he anwsered the phone. I asked him why he would do something like that. He told me that my test results indicated serious depression. I said really? you think? So he asked me to come in to consult with him about the results and that it really wasnt a big deal, and that possibly he could clear me after this next visit. So I got my insurance approval for this next visit, and will schedule this next appointment with him. I am so mad at him. I was upfront and honest with him about my depression and everything. Of course I'm depressed. Anyway if you made it this far thank you, and if you have had any expierence with this situation or what not..I'm all eyes to read! Amanda

Amanda, You need to pride yourself that you picked such a GREAT program, that would be this careful about the counseling. The main thing about the counseling is they don't want you to have issues that could impair your dramatic weight loss in anyway, so that is why that are very clear about getting cleared. They don't want you to have to go through surgery and then have to deal with the issues after the weight loss. I have kept up with your story and I have noticed that the self-esteem of you is pretty negative and it makes me so sad that someone, who has such a wonderful husband and family, could feel that way about yourself. It could be that the couselor wants to make sure that your self-esteem issues will not hinder your weight loss success. Mercy is an excellent program and so what they do so their patients can get the best results. So hang in there and jump those hoops as it will be worth it in the end. Good Luck!!! Stephanie

Who did you go to? I went to Straight and had no problems. It was kind of a formality that cost me a few hundred bucks. jean
