Proteins-your opinions on the best ones
Hi-
I am one week post op RNY (what an ordeal) and I am looking for some protein ideas.
Specfically:
---which whey isolates can you add to jus****er to make the required 64 ozs more fun (I would even be willing to add Crystal Light or other flavorings if necessary)
---good receipes for protein TREAT drinks
---Food suggestions for the puree period....food is getting boring at this point
As far as protein goes, I am really sensitve to smell....there use to be an area on this site where people gave their opinion on different proteins, foods, vitamins, etc.....I can't seem to find it with the updated look. Is it still here somewhere?
I am not sure about the site where people gave there opinions on the different proteins, foods, vitamins, etc as I have not found that one yet. I can only drink the chocolate unjury. I have tried various kinds of protein pre op and post op and this is the only one that I can get down and stay down. I mix the scoop with warmer water and it makes it like a hot ****o. It is actually easy on the new pouch. I tried the unflavored unjury in propel but it made it taste a little funny and was harder to drink. Sorry I do not do anything fun with my protein yet as it is a big accomplishment for me to keep it down.

Dry milk 1/3 c. mixed with 3 tsp. co-co, and 2-3 packets of Splenda make an excellent Hot co-co with added protein from the dry milk. You can add vanilla protein scoops to this too to make a chocolate/vanilla hot coco. Dry Milk can be added to your Sugar free pudding as well for ff/sf high protein pudding. Dry milk is a savior in the early days for additional protein! Davinci also makes excellent Sugar Free Syrups you can add to anything for extra flavor!!
Toni, I just hated protein shakes and crap like that. The only thing I can even remotely tolerate now is the expensive Atkins ready-to-drink shakes, the chocolate delight flavor. It only has 18 grams of protein, so for a very new post op like yourself, you need much more. But I found these cans of drink to be easy, and tasty and tolerable. But they are expensive, i do admit.
Another thing I did immediately post op was to use Prostat. It tastes like cherry cough syrup, and it is kind of nasty. But one little two tablespoon dose was 20 grams and I just swigged it down the hatch, no mixing or anything. Just took it like medicine. It's the only way I could get my protein down in those early weeks.
I haven't had to supplement in a long time, except for recently with my two back-to-back surgeries (tummy tuck and bowel obstruction). So, keep your chin up, you'll get to the point where you too will be able to eat enough protein to suffice.

Hi Toni!
I am two weeks post op tomorrow. I have really enjoyed Diet Resolution Protein Maximum. I have been drinking it since I went on clear liquids at the end of October. Maybe, I just haven't hit that bored taste yet or maybe I mix it stronger than some. I get it at GNC.
Hope you find something!

I've just been trying some of the samples, but the unflavored Unjury was my fave, you can add that to pretty much anything. I also had the Roadside Lemonade Nectar mixed with Lemonade Crystal Light, I did not like the Twisted Cherry Nectar. I have also taken SF Carnation Instant Breakfast and added a scoop Body Fortress Chocolate Protein Powder, I think that makes it about 25g of protein so you don't have to use the dry milk option, I think, I'm going to double check with my surgeon Thurs. I also like the Apple Melon Isopure, I did not care for the Grape Frost, you can get Isopure at HyVee, so that is convienent for me & it tastes kinda like Gatorade or Powerade.
