Where do you get these and what do they do. I have been reading about people using them but I am not sure why.

Hey Jean Didn't you mention at one of the support meeting that you used bendryl or sudfed or something in the mornings to help with the sinus drainage. I seem to be having a lot of the frothy spits and it seems to be caused from the mucus. I know that is gross. I was workingo ut today and had to stop and run to the locer room and get rid of some. What can I do to reduce the frothy spits! They are killing me. It hurts so much!

This is what did the trick for me.....I would take a dose of sudafed (little tiny red pills) at bedtime, then first thing in the morning, drink a hot liquid, like decaf coffee or tea of even broth. Since you are new post op, I would recommend switching the sudafed pills with benadryl liquid at night. Then follow up with hot liquid first thing in the morning. the way they explained it to me is that it is like a drain clogged up with hair. Until you get the drain unclogged, nothing can get through. Are you still taking the liquid lortab for pain? If so, cut back on that because it causes a histamine release causing an increase in mucous. Let me know if this works for you. jean

It is used to dissolve meat stuck in your pouch. It is the same ingredients used in meat tenderizer. It is not supposed to cause any problems with your pouch. Since I am not a health care professional I will do some checking and see if I can find the original post with some sources. Hawkeye Mike

I've seen papaya enzymes for sale at GNC. They come in a little tin. I keep thinking I should have some on hand in case I ever get something stuck. I've also read you can mix a tsp of Adolph's meat tenderizer with warm water and it does the same trick.

Hi Lisa! It was great to meet you at the Walk from Obesity. Thank you for introducing yourself. You look great. I think papaya enzymes are a lifesaver. I chew them a lot after I eat meat if I get that heavy feeling in my stomach like it isn't going to sit. I also use it if the foamies start. You chew 3 and they taste decent. Within 30 minutes whatever stomach distress I had is gone. You can get tham at Walmart, Walgreens, Target, or the nutrition stores. I just chewed some a few minutes ago because I think I ate too fast and had the feeling. Keep up the good work. Jan Marie
