Exercise
What is everyone doing for exercise? I've been walking around Gray's Lake which is 2 miles. I've decreased my time from 45 minutes down to about 37 minutes. I am losing weight very slowly. I'll be 3 months out on the 26th. Had my 3 month appt with Dr. Smolik on Wednesday and got told again that I am on the low side for losing and I need to increase the intensity of my exercise. i got this same lecture at my 6 week appt. He said I should have lost 50 pounds at 6 weeks and 60-70 at 3 months. I've lost only 45. I'm not snacking, not cheating (no desire to) and getting in 90-100 protein grams per day. I know we aren't to compare to others but I can't help but be concerned when my surgeon obviously is. Any suggestions?
Dr. Smollik said the same thing at my 2 week appointment. He said I needed to be sweating when I exercise. At 2 weeks out I was so tired that walking was all I could do. How many times do you go for your walk? If it is only a few times maybe try uping that. That can make a difference. I go on my lunch 5 days a week and use the tread mill for 30 minutes then the next day I use the elliptical for 30 minutes. I never sweat but I do it almost everyday. I think that helps. Just remember that we all lose differently. Some people follow all the rules and still don't lose as fast. I don't think it matters how fast a person loses but that in the end the weight has been lost. Some people lose faster then others. I think you are doing good. Keep up the good work!!!
Are you drinking at least 64 ounces of water per day? Your body needs mega water to flush the fat out.
As far as exercise, you should shoot for at least 30 minutes of cardio five times a week and at least 3 or 4 days per week of resistance training (weight lifting).
Maybe start shaking it up and walk one day, ride a bike the next, then do an eliptical then back to walk, etc.
Another thing....if you are not eating enough, your body might feel like it is in startvation mode and hanging on to the fat.
Follow the rules to the letter and see how it goes.

I think it is unfair to say you are loosing weight to slowly. It is soooo very dependent on many factors including age, metabolism, etc. IF you are feeling the need to increase weight lose, another thing that might help (along with what has already been suggested) is to keep track of everything you eat on fitday.com. It may (or may not ) supprise you how much caloric intake you are getting in.
Personally, I walk 4 miles a day (very briskly: it takes me about 45 mins)/ 6 days a week. When it gets to cold to walk outside, I will return to my elliptical for 45 mins a day/ 6 days a week.
But this is not a race. It is all about changing our lifestyle, and becoming healthy. If you are dong everything right, then that is all you can do, and your body will lose weight according to its own time schedule.
I think you are doing a great job and just need to keep up the good work!
