Hello fellow Iowan's. It has been so long since I posted here!! Just been a little crazy. I was just wondering if anyone here has gotten pregnant since there surgery? Any insite on this would be great. I posted on the pregnancy board also, just thought maybe someone closer to home could help. Thanks, Jen 275/175/150 hope someday

Hi Jen! Congrats on your weight loss success! I found out I was pregnant 8 months after surgery but I had luckily just reached my goal! We found out it was twins a few weeks later. We got pregnant by surprise as it was quite difficult to have our other children. My surgeon said that as long as I was at goal he was not upset. But I did have to up my calories and my vitamin intake. I still ended up very anemic and almost had a blood transfusion after having the girls, but didn't. It took awhile to recover but I'm back to normal 5 months after their birth. I gained 12 pounds and had lost 14 before leaving the hospital. While pregnant I felt like I was always hungry and could eat like a maniac. But after having the girls I was back to my old self. Not able to eat near as much and dumping once again when I go overboard. I hover around 150-155 which is under my goal weight of 160. Good luck and I think you'll find that getting pregnant after WLS can be easier than you think. Oh and please make sure to keep in touch with your surgeon and your nutritionist as you will need their guidence to stay healthly along the way. Good luck! Hi Jen, I have the same surgeon as Stephanie and I contacted her immediately when I found out I was pregnant! I got pregnant (totally unexpectedly) at... 6-7 months post op. Thankfully I was also at goal, so it went over fine with my surgeon. I had my 1 yr blood work done early at my 9 month appt though. Everything is fine, but I'm also on the vitamins that they recommend. Anyway, I'm currently at 22 wks and our baby boy is growing just perfectly. I'll have my 1 yr post op anniversary on the 20th. So... not planned, HUGE surprise, still a lot of shock, but all is well. Amy

Jen, Hi, There have been alot of women on her that have had babies after having this surgery. Sherry Weber, Tracie List and Andrea, Deb. I know Sherry Weber posted her experience on her profile she would be a good person to talk to on here.....I am still hoping some day I will get preg. but first you need a man for that and I dont have a man so I have to wait.....lol.....Lynda
