Okay well I got my call from Tracy and my preop is next Thursday. I asked her about the loss of addl 10 lbs and she said as long as we did not GAIN anymore it will be fine. So I am going to continue to walk, etc and watch what I eat, but at least I do not have to stress about it anymore.

Oh I am so happy that you are finaly getting a date to get done !!! I check on here waiting for you to post. The waiting game is the worst ! I know how you feel about trying to get this off before pre-op. I was suppose to be on 800 calories a day for 2 weeks, which is sure not much food. Then when I went in I had only lost 6 pounds. Well I kept that off only for about 3 days. But I am now coming up on 3 weeks out and I am so glad to be done. You feel like the day will never arrive. Learning to try food again has been a real challange. I'll keep watching for a update when you get done. I wish you all the best ! Deb

Not trying to make you feel more nervous Janine, but.....it really is important in these last couple weeks to watch your diet and not binge on fatty crap. The reason is because you want this operation to be done laproscopically if at all possible, and if for some reason (overeating) your liver is too big, they won't be able to do it lap and will have to resort to opening you up. You don't want that if at all possible. I know open RNY is not the end of the world, but it really is a much easier recovery not to have a major incision to deal with. SO, if you watch what you eat between now and then, your liver will not be all fat and inflamed from overworking to deal with the fatty foods and the surgeon will be able to use those lap scopes and tools much easier. I remember how it felt though, to be in the home stretch and thinking I would never have my favorite foods ever again, so I better eat them now while I still can. The reality is, you WILL be able to eat whatever you want again someday and that day will come sooner than you think. So, don't think of it as a "good bye", but more of a "see ya later, when I might again enjoy you in moderation someday". Hang in there and don't let the diet stress you out. Just eat low fat protein (chicken, turkey, sea food), healthy carbs (vegetables) and exercise. jean
