When do you get a date?
Hi,
If I do get approved do I get a surgery date before all my preop testing is completed? Or do I have to complete all of this first (I would think that is the way it usually goes). Just trying to get my work prepared for the time I will be off. I have Dr. Glas**** as a surgeon by the way. Thanks!
Melissa
Here I am again, Melissa.
Dr G, when he first started doing his surgeries in CF, would give you a date after your insurance Ok'd the surgery & then said to have your testing done by that date. However, this ocassionally caused problems. I mentioned to you in an e-mail about my hysterectomy. My ultrasound was my last test & it wasn't done until about 2 weeks before my surgery date. They had to postpone my surgery & I wasn't the only one as others also had test results hold them up. That's when they changed the way they did things. Now they give you a list of the tests you need, have you get them done & then they give you a date. I understand that the date is usually within a couple weeks, while mine was probably about 3 months in the future. Oh, they also check to see if you owe a bill to Covenant too & that can take time. It's in the hands of the business office at that point & Dr G's office staff have no control over that time. Sometimes that may take a couple weeks, even if you've never been one of thier patients.
If you think that you will need to be tested for sleep apnea, you might want to look into getting an appointment as soon as possible. They usually have quite a wait before you can get in. I believe you are from up north? I had my second sleep study done by the Mason City hospital since the Waterloo ones didn't have an opening so you don't have to have it done in Waterloo.
Hope that helps.
