I am looking for a referal for a primary care doctor in the Des Moines area that has referred and supported patients going to the Mery Medical Clinic for weight reduction. I haven't used a primary care doctor for awhile, many specialist but have been told I need to find a primary care doctor. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My PCP won't be good but there is a lady on here who gave some info to another person a few post back that she goes to Mercy East with Dr.Casey Clor I think is the name and the # is 515 643 2400. This doctor is one of the optifast doctors with Mercy. She said this doctor is realy good. I can't tell you first hand because I don't know this doctor but the other person said he is good. Maybe she will post a reply to this post also. Hope this helps.

What part of town? I used Tina Brightwell at Mercy South. She is a PA and very supportive.

Hey Cindy how is every thing going? It has been about 2 months for you. Is everything going good?

Yep, it will be 2 months tomorrow. I'm all healed up and pretty much back to normal. I'm just really disappointed that I'm not losing faster. I've lost only 27 pounds since surgery--35 since pre-op consult. Not sure what the problem is. I'm walking every night, getting in 90 grams of protein and keeping the calories between 500-600, and taking all the vitamins. I guess I'm just destined to be a slow loser. I guess that's fine as long as I eventually lose it all!

Hey Cindy, You might not be eating enough. Anything below 700 calories can put you into starvation mode and your body just refuses to lose. Try upping your calories to 900 or so and see if that will get the wt loss going again. Of course, the best thing would be to call your doc and ask about it.

Tim Evert at Mercy South. He's been great thru my journey.

I'm the one tooting the horn for Mercy East and Dr. Clor. He is great, he is an Opti-Fast physician and he knows all about weight loss and everything that goes with it. Melissa posted his phone number, so don't hesitate in calling, he is pretty easy to get in to see. I think he's great. jean

I had RNY gastric bypass in Dec 2004. My husband went through the Optifast program this past winter and lost 65 pounds, and so far is keeping it off. It was expensive, but he is pleased with the results. He liked seeing a dr. every week. jean
