Hi Molly, I don't have much time to type right now, but I just wondered why you chose to have your surgery in Iowa City, did you check out any other centers? I have nothing against them, I had a great experience with the birth of my son there, but I'm hoping to have my WLS done at Genesis in Davenport, I have heard so many great things about them. I chose U of I because my friend had her WLS done there a year before me and had good things to say about it. I looked at Barix, but at the time (may be different now), they only did open, and I wanted at least an attempt at lap. molly

Hi Molly, Did you end up having lap? My mother in law had hers done at Barix in 2003 & they were only doing open at the time as well. Kenzie

Yes, I did have it done lap.

I am in Dubuque......but I love to shop in the quad cities......does that count? I like Molly chose to go to the U of I......When I had my surgery Genesis was just getting started (almost 3 years ago) and I just felt better going with the U of I. I personally know many people who have went thru Genesis and it is a GREAT program. I would choose them over U of I now. THey have great after care too, and that in itself is SO important. I am currently seeing Christopherson with a problem and he is great. I was also attenind there support group pretty regulary but haven't been there now since spring.......life got to busy. But I already have my calendar marked for the next meeting on Sept 20th. Have you gone to any support group meetings yet? Feel free to email me. Take Care and best of luck jesi
