Will I be able to travel after surgery and when????

I am supposed to be going on vacation the first week of October but I haven't bought my plane ticket yet since I was unsure if I would be able to go. How long will I need to wait to travel? My surgery is Aug 29 and I would 4-5 weeks out by then.

I think it depends on how you'll feel. Everyone is different. I remember that after I got my second tube out I felt a lot better. I would not have traveled at 4 to 5 weeks out but I have read that a lot of people are back to work in 2 weeks and I could not have gone back that early. I think everyone's body takes the surgery differently and it is hard to say how you are going to feel. Sorry I'm not better help

I went to work 3 weeks out. I felt like a million dollars after I got the second tube out and most people do I think. I also think that it would be a personal decision but it would depend on what you are going to be doing while traveling as well. If its just a vacation, without a lot of extensive walking and/or physical exercise, then I think that you will be fine. Its really hard to tell!

I would say it all depends how well your surgery goes everybody is different. I ended up with a leak 2 days after my surgery and couldnt keep anything down for a couple weeks part of my incision bursted open and I didn't think any of that would happen but it did so its really hard to make plans not knowing how you will feel we can always hope for the best but never know I wasn't trying to scare you I am a little over a year out and I never regreted having this surgery I have lost 156 pounds so far and feel great yes I went through hell in the beginning but sometimes that can happen. so I would say to just play it by ear because everybodys experiences are different and just hope to be one of those that fly through this all with flying colors. Lisa Congrats on your upcoming sugery date.... As the other posters states, it all depends on how well your recovery goes. As for me, I flew from Cali to Florida 31 days after i had lap rny...i had no tubes or anything. I was very careful what i did eat when i was in the airports and didn't have any problems I say buy your ticket but also buy the insurance just in case your not feeling well to traveling.
