With surgery looming at the end of the month, I need to drop a few more pounds, before my pre-op appt which is the 17th. I have been sick with a cold so I have not felt up to exercising. Any tips on how to decrease my appetite, increase my energy? Also how to you use a CPAP when your nose is plugged up? I am struggling at night.

Lisa, We are definitely in the same boat, however I do have a few more weeks than you do. I am kicking in on proteins now and walking. You will feel alot more energized after you walk, its GETTING the energy to get started that is hard. Just keep telling yourself..YOU CAN DO IT!! YOU HAVE TO DO IT!! No clue on the CPAP...sorry. You can do it!! YOU CAN DO IT!!

Lisa, my husband is a Respiratory Therapist and he says there is really nothing you can do as far as the CPAP goes. Just try taking some sudafed before you go to bed and maybe that will clear your nose up enough to breath through. jean

Hi Lisa!!! When I was scheduled for surgery they told me to go ahead and start my liquid diet 2 weeks early and I dropped about 15 pounds. It was not the most pleasant two weeks of my life but maybe with the cold... if you do not have much of an appetite, it will not be that bad... yeah right, who am I kidding!!!! LOL Anyhow, I wish you luck and I hope you are feeling better soon. SipeleK

You could try some Afrin nasal spray for a few days. It really opens up stuffed noses. But you don't want to use it for more than 3 days. I always found the CPAP unplugged me!

Okay, since Monday night (or was it Tuesday) I have lost 6.1 lbs!! I was up to 311 on Tuesday and I weighed myself today and I am 304.9!! Isn't that awesome!! I havent had any "sugars" really. Only protein, fruits and vegetables. I have only had 2 diet pepsis. I have walked everyday (anywhere from 20-45 minutes). I am sooo happy. Worried about the weekend, but I think if I keep walking I should be okay. I only have 11 more lbs to lose (and MAINTAIN). I recommend trying this Lisa, its hard, but you can do it. (I always crave my chocolate after lunch) Janine
