could it be?
Hi everyone...not sure *****members me and who doesnt....anyway I read the boards regularly...I dont always post. The last time I posted was in January I believe. I thought I had secured a job with a good company that had great insurance. Well....I didnt and I am still temping!! So my weight has been staying between 295 and 305 so I gain ten loose ten constantly.
I am getting pretty desperate to have something done. I have started to notice that I am not wanting to be as mobile as I once was. Anywho...I started to look into how I can pay for individual insurance. I was wondering if anyone has done this. I looked into Wellmark Alliance Select Comprehensive plans. Its going to cost about 428 a month, including dental. I would love to hear about your expierence with self pay individiual insuarnce.
Thanks
Amanda
Amanda, Just make damn sure before you sign on the dotted line that there are no specific exclusions for weight loss surgery.
I'm sure you have already looked into a different job, but check into their benefits before you sign on with them, if you can.
I don't know if anyone here has experience with Prairie Meadows, but they had really decent benefits when my daughter worked there. I don't know if they cover WLS or not, but her copays and stuff were better than ours! They had really good health insurance.
Another employer that would be good for WLS coverage is Mercy Hospital in DSM. And that would include all of the Mercy Clinics and Mercy Capitol Hosp. My husband has been at Mercy for 17 years now and it approved me in a few days time and has also approved my panniculectomy in September.
Amanda, i read your profile and I can feel your pain and desperation feelings. Hang in there. See if you can get on somewhere with better insurance and go for it. You are worth it.
