How long does it take once you have been approved by insurance and have all needed Dr appts completed to get them to schedule a surgery date. I have been approved since 6-29 and still no date. Last time I talked to them they said be patient and we will call you a few weeks before we want to do surgery. I would love to be able to start planning for work, and my son. I am suppose to go on vacation in October and I am not sure if I will be able to, depending on when I have surgery. Any words of advise?????

Wow, things have changed there. I went to the introductory lecture in October 2004 and had everything done and my RNY was 12/20/04. Just a little over 2 months from when I first walked in the door. Are they THAT busy? I know the sleep center is always backed way up, and that can cause a problem for some people. Hang in there. jean

If I remember right, it was about a month. I know I was approved by insurance in April and I think they called me in late May to scheduled the surgery.

I got schedule about a week after I got all my stuff done. I had the insurance approval already because I had started the process at a different hospital. But once I got all the stuff done and the sleep study was the last thing I got my date in about a week. I know they were behind on scheduling earlier this year maybe that is why it is taking so long. Sorry it is taking forever. I remember waiting a week and just wanting to know when it would be so I could make my plans. Keep us updated on when you get your date.

I may be the anomaly but I was approved in mid February and got my date in April. My surgery was 6/19/06.

I was told today that August was completely booked up for surgeries. So maybe your on the list for September. Maybe they are waiting to see what doctors are available, etc. Hang in there..

To those of you that got your dates right away It is hard to be patient, but I don't have any options. I would love to call every day and ask, but then I am afraid Diane would toss my file for being annoying! They first told me perhaps July and then August, now I am hearing September. My b-day is over laboer day weekend and I have family coming to visit. I would hate for them to have to visit me in the hospital. I also have a family vacation scheduled for the end of Sept early October that I will have to work around now. Not to mention that I am getting married in March, so this surgery can't happen soon enough. Too much stress right now! Thanks for the info I will keep everyone posted! If and when I ever hear anything.

I was approved before Christmas of last year and I didnt get a call to get a date until March 17th!!! I feel your pain. While it is hard to hear "be patient" and try to force yourself not to call everyday, you have to do it. I restrained myself to calling every two weeks. I made thigns up, like asking about the medicine or proteins that I had to get, etc. They know that you are anxious about getting a date and are working on it. I know it hard to hear but there's really nothing else you can do at this point! Hang in there!
