I found out today that I was approved. Now I have to wait until Friday when Melanie will be back in the office since I have to work with her. For some reason I don't feel as excited as I thought I would. Is that normal?

Hi Lisa, I want to first say "congrats" on your approval. My name is Nissah and I have Dr. Cahalan @ Mercy Capitol. I am done with everything(not to brag), and I am waiting on my date to come. I am scheduled for surgery on July 17th, the day B4 you see your surgeon. I am not sure of how far you are into the process, but it is a waiting game, and it will make you very, very, frustrated. Melanie is a great person to work with and she will help you at all cost. I know how you feel. I could not get excited when she called and told me I was "approved". All I could say was, Okay, what's next. I was approved in Aug. 05, so that's why I am saying it is a waiting game. Now when you get your surgery date, that's a different story, you will be off the ceilings, and like you won 5 million dollars, and like it's 1999. Then all of a sudden, when reality sets in, you will feel and will want to . Sounds , but you can ask around, it's true. Are you required to lose any weight B4 surgery? Dr. Cahalan wanted me to lose 15lbs, well I lost 47lbs, which betters my chances for a laproscopic surgery, which makes me easier. Well, I just wanted to drop you a few lines of encouragement to possibly help you along the way, with your surgery. Feel free to email me and keep me in your prayers. God Bless Nissah 360/313/???/180 18 days and counting

Thanks for the encouragement. I have everything done, just waiting to get my date. Yes I am supposed to lose weight between 10-20 lbs. This has to be the hardest weightloss yet. How did you lose? So far I have lost about 7 but I still need to lose more. I just don't seem to have the energy to do anything extra for exercise. Good luck on your surgery I am sure everything will be fine, and you will be on the losing side very soon. Congrats to you!

Congrats For most the insurance approval is the hardest part....so with that down, hopefully you will have smooth sailing the rest of the way I think it is totally normal to not be excited when first finding out about approval.. I figured I would be denied, but went along with everything and when I was approved I was shocked and scared......kinda like holy poop what have I gotten myself into now!!!! It is an awesome journey with LOTS of emotions, at some point you will experience them all! Best of luck and Take Care
